Hey hey. Alrighty, even though I'm feeling much too lazy to do any updating, I will do my best to do a quick note to let people know I'm alive. Right now I'm in Napoli, Italy on my way south from Roma. What can I say about Roma, thousands of years worth of history in one place is almost overwhelming. We saw a Roma vs. Milan soccer game which was very cool. Had the shole swat team out to protect the Milan fans from getting beaten up by the Roma fans.
Naples itself I cant say I've fallen in love with. Its fairly dirty, busy and smelly for my tastes, although Dave seems to love the fast paced action of everyday life here. Today being Sunday, we wandered out of our hostel to find absiloutly
everything closed. When they say Italy is a Roman-Catholic kinda place they aren't kidding. Supermarkets, clothing stores, tourist shops, street vendours....all gone. It looked like everyone got up and left. Very eerie, but I liked it better than before. At least being dead quiet I didn't have to worry as much about being run over by crazed scooter drivers every minuute of the day. Oh yes, none of the streets have sidewalks, and are about a metre wide. In this metre wide street the have all the following happening all at the same time... People's parked cars on both sides of the street, people walking in both directions, AND two lanes of traffic. Try as you might to imagine how unnerving this is for the pedestrians, you have no idea until you come about 2 centimetres to having someones rearview mirror smack you in the ass as they go whizzing by.
Next stop for us is Croatia. I hadn't originally planned on going here, but everyone we've talked to goes on and on about how absiloutly beautiful it is there, so we decided to give it a go. Plus its cheap, that always helps in our decision making process. Our first stop in a place called Dubrovnik which is supposedly soaked in culture and beutilful streets, along with a breathtakingly stunning beach. We shall see how this all lives up. We shall hope at least the beach part is right, I'm longing for a good swim in the Mediterainian.
But, thats all I have the patience for now, I shall update you on Croatia and hope I come back with all limbs intact. Wish me luck.
